Community Involvement

Over the years, extensive public consultation has been undertaken to understand and reflect feedback from stakeholders, the general public, the Parish Councils of Philleigh, Gerrans and Veryan, and Friends of Pendower Beach organisation.

As a result, significant and fundamental changes have been made to the plans that have been put forward to Cornwall Council. These are now 25% smaller in scale, with the development footprint area reduced by approximately 40% compared to those originally submitted in 2020.

Designed to regenerate the largely run down former Pendower Beach House Hotel, the submitted plans deliver:

  • significant economic benefit to the local community and its businesses
  • jobs for 12-15 staff on site at any one time, with 2-4 staff on site at all times
  • sympathetic changes to the historic farmhouse
  • use of sensitive local building materials
  • enhanced amenities for local users of the beach including a restaurant, café and beach shop
  • 23 two and three bed family self-catering holiday-let suites within the aparthotel
  • protection for Rocky Lane against coastal erosion through necessary cliff stabilisation work
  • significant biodiversity net gain improvements; 7% above that required by Cornwall Council
  • measures that protect the sensitive local environment for future generations

We invite you to support the proposals being put forward and welcome you to join us at our latest community engagement event which is being held at Philleigh Village Hall/Community Centre (TR2 5NB), 4-6pm on Monday 18th March.
